EN: Chiyoda is the heart and center of Tokyo, old Imperial Palace is surrounded by high-rise buildings and busy roads. But on Sundays, when the weather forecast is good enough, approximately 3 km long section of roads just next to the palace is off limits for the general traffic and it is available only for cyclists. So if you have a chance and you can somehow get to this part of the city, give it a try, there are hundreds of enthusiasts over there cycling in groups (I saw a meeting of foldable bike fans today, quite impressive) or alone. There are little children and families, somewhat profesionally looking individuals (some of them with Tour de France level of equipment), people in any ages. It is worth trying and seeing.
SK: Chiyoda je srdcom Tokia, nie len preto, lebo sa v tejto časti nachádza kráľovský palác, ale aj preto, lebo je finančným centrom a čiastočne aj turistickým. Starobylé hradby sú obklopené zeleňou a širokými cestami, ktoré sú zvyčajne plné áut, no v nedeľu, ak je pekné počasie, je všetko inak. Kvôli propagácii športu a hlavne cyklistiky je v závere týždňa v prípade pozitívnej predpovede počasia uzavretá 3 kilometre dlhá časť cesty, ktorá má dostatok pruhov na to, aby sa po nej mohli preháňať doslova stovky cyklistických nadšencov. Od malých detí, cez starších ľudí až po profesionálne vybavených jedincov – všetci si tam našli miesto a priestor na to, aby mohli bez obáv krúžiť dookola. Ak máte pri návšteve Tokia šancu vidieť to, stojí to za to, je to celkom sympatický nápad.
