EN: After a night spent in ryokan, where I had great breakfast, I was transported by the owner to the closest Kuroneko Yamato office, where I shipped my large luggage to my final destination – Imabari. I was left only with my bike and my rucksack, I headed towards Oshima island. Since I cycled major part of the route the day before (roughly 60km), I knew I had more than enough time to fiddle around, thus this time I chose the “island explorer” route.
I did not regret this – cycling through the countryside brought me to a small flower park with a fountain and roses, then, for the first time in my life, I saw a shipyard (company called I-S Shipyard or あいえす造船), the size of the ships in production was very impressive. I actually met a worker and he showed me where the best view of the construction area is, so I could take better photos.
Then I spotted the Kurushima bridge – the world’s longest suspension bridge structure and it really is a fascinating piece of engineering. After more than 4 kilometers of cycling on the bridge I finally reached Shikoku island for the first time ever – this was the only remaining island in Japan I had not visited before. With the help of GPS I cycled to the city center of Imabari, I found the bicycle drop-off station next to JR train station, returned my bike and walked to my hotel (Imabari Kokusai Hotel, very nice one, the tallest building in the city). Since I was allowed earlier checkout, I could relax in my room, but I still decided to visit Imabari castle – which really surprised me and I enjoyed relaxed 2 hours over there. The weather was great and the views of the city and Seto sea from the top of the castle were definitely worth it.
SK: Po noci strávenej v ryokane, v ktorom som si užil chutné raňajky, ma vlastník previezol aj s bicyklom a mojím veľkým kufrom do najbližšej pobočky Kuroneko Yamato. Tam som si dal opäť odoslať moju batožinu do mojej konečnej zastávky – mesta Imabari na ostrove Šikoku. Zostal mi teda iba malý vak s fotoaparátom a laptopom, keďže deň predtým som prekonal väčšiu časť celej trasy (asi 60km), vedel som, že mám viac ako dostatok času. Preto som si tento krát vybral možnosť “island explorer”, resp. prieskumník ostrova.
Neoľutoval som, pokojne som sa presúval po vidieku na ostrove, narazil som na kvetinovú záhradu plnú ruží s fontánou a po prvýkrát v živote som videl lodenice, kde práve pracovali na obrovskej lodi (názov I-S Shipyard, alebo あいえす造船 ). Jeden z pracovníkov mi ukázal miesto s dobrým výhľadom odkiaľ som videl oveľa lepšie celý priebeh konštrukcie.
Potom som z diaľky videl most Kurushima – najdlhší visutý most na svete (link v Angličtine vyššie v anglickej časti textu), ktorý je teda poriadne majestátny. Po 4 kilometroch jazdy na moste som konečne dorazil na ostrov Šikoku – po prvýkrát od mojej prvej návštevy Japonska. Nasmeroval som si to s pomocou GPS pozdĺž pobrežia do centra mesta Imabari, kde som pri železničnej stanici vrátil môj bicykel a odkráčal som do môjho hotela (Imabari Kokusai Hotel, link vyššie), ktorý bol zhodou okolností najvyššou budovou v meste. Keďže mi bol povolený skorší checkin, vedel som, že musím čakať na môj veľký kufor, preto som si dal sprchu a navštívil som hrad Imabari, ktorý ma príjemne prekvapil. Keďže počasie bolo skvelé a ja som si chcel oddýchnuť, strávil som tam 2 hodiny, čerešničkou na torte boli výhľady z hradu na mesto a more Seto.
